DenSureFit Infection Control & Disposal Protocols

1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Wear gloves, protective eyewear, and a mask before handling any denture or DenSureFit materials.
  • Follow standard precautions to prevent cross-contamination.

2. Work Area Preparation

  • Disinfect the application surface with an EPA-registered disinfectant.
  • Use disposable tray covers or surface barriers.
  • Set up the DenSureFit 50 cc cartridge, mixing tip(s), medical swabs, primer and denture on a sanitized tray.

3. Denture Preparation

  • Instruct the patient to remove denture.
  • Clean denture thoroughly with Dawn or other soap free of moisturizers.
  • Rinse and dry the denture completely before application.

4. DenSureFit Application (Clinical Use)

  • Use a new, sterile mixing tip for each application.
  • If using more than one tip in a session, dispose of each tip after use.
  • Do not attempt to clean or reuse applicators or mixing tips.
  • If product contacts skin, wipe immediately and wash area thoroughly.

5. Aftercare & Handling

  • Use clean gloves to handle relined dentures.
  • Trim excess silicone with sanitized scissors as needed.
  • Dispose of trimmings in regular medical waste (non-sharp).
  • Place denture in a clean, sealed denture case or pouch.

6. Disposal Protocol

  • Used mixing tips and applicators: Dispose in sharps or red biohazard container (per office policy).
  • Tray covers and barriers: Dispose as regulated medical waste.
  • Gloves, masks, and PPE: Dispose according to facility protocol for contaminated materials.

7. Surface Disinfection Post-Use

  • Wipe down all used surfaces with disinfectant.
  • Replace tray covers or surface barriers before the next patient.

8. Documentation

Record the following in patient chart:

  • Date and time of DenSureFit application
  • Number of tips used
  • Notes on fit, comfort, and any trimming
  • Product batch number (if required for traceability)
